James 1:2-4 Amplified
Consider it wholly joyful my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trail and the proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.
I don’t know about any of you my readers, but I have a hard time thinking of all the hardships that I have been through as something that I could be joyful about. Sure, I am grateful and thankful to the Lord, my God for bringing me through them. However during those hardships I was not joyful as I went through them.
What are the sufferings , trials or temptations that you are experiencing right now or the hardships that you can look back on and be grateful to God for going through them?
Hardships, sufferings, trials or temptations do not define you as a person but God does as you allow HIM and seek HIM as you go through this stuff. Not only God defines who you are as a person but HE refines you as a person.
As you are being hard pressed on every side, God is right there holding your hands and leading you right through it to the place He wants you to be.
There is a song that is just popping into my head right now and it is based upon scripture by Brian Doerksen
Purify my heart
let me be as gold, pure gold
My heart’s one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for You, Lord
I choose to be holy
Set apart for You, my Master
Ready to do Your will
Cleanse me from within
And make me Holy
Cleanse me from my sin
All the sufferings, trials, hardships and the fact that God allows us to be tempted with a way out through HIM; I believe are designed and allowed to bring us ever closer to His throne and into a deeper more vibrant and fragrant relationship our Lord and Master.
I thank for each one that reads and follows this blog that You have commissioned me to write. Bless each one right where they are today whether they are being tempted, have a terminal illness, or any other hardship I ask that You draw them close to You. Speak into their hearts and lives and let the work that You began in them through these things grow and develop as they press into this day.
In Jesus Mighty Name,
